In the same vein, Shamsudeen Yusuf who spoke on behalf of the LOC said that the participation of Trevo Africa has enabled the LOC to bring to a successful end the qualifiers which have been pushed forth due to the prevalent logistical issues and national matters like the Nigerian elections.

He expressed delight in the role of Trevo Africa for taking the responsibility of covering the expenses of the winning team as they participate in the Dubai Championship.

NewAge Sports Africa crew toured the facility of the company and after which was involved in photo sessions with Trevo Africa and members of staff.

The LOC left with confirmed hopes of bringing the competition to a satisfactory climax on Wednesday, April 1.

9 Health Reasons You Should Be Eating Less Meat

9 Health Reasons You Should Be Eating Less Meat

For centuries, meat has been an essential part of the human diet and has made its way into just about every meal. Now researchers have discovered that a high-protein diet, consisting largely of meats, may not be as healthy as once thought. The saturated fats, sodium content and antibiotics in meat may be the culprit for the number of diseases, cancers and illnesses occurring in those who eat it on a daily basis. Simply eating less meat may be the key to preventing these health problems, and here are 9 reasons why you should cut back today:

1    You’ll live longer: Although eating less meat may not necessarily add years to your life, it can prevent a premature death. Cutting back on red meat and processed meats may reduce your risk of developing heart disease and cancer, the two biggest killers of Americans. Red meat contains a high amount of saturated fat, which raises bad cholesterol levels and can increase your blood pressure making you more prone to having atherosclerosis, stroke and heart attack.

2    You’ll reduce the risk for heart disease and diabetes: Eating fewer processed meats can have a significant impact on your health. Cutting back on bacon, sausage, hot dogs and cold cuts can reduce your risk for cardiovascular disease and help prevent diabetes. These meats contain a large amount of sodium and saturated fats, which can contribute to colorectal cancer, kidney problems and congestive heart failure.

3   You’ll reduce the chances of getting a bacterial infection: Eating less or no meat at all may be your best defense against the drug-resistant superbugs that are appearing in supermarket meats these days. Antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has been popping up in raw beef, chicken, turkey and cow’s milk, therefore, increasing the risk for hard-to-treat bacterial infections in humans. Staphylococcus aureus thrives in open wounds rather than in the gut, so handling meats contaminated with this strain of bacteria increases your chance for infection if you don’t take proper measures to protect your hands and cook your food thoroughly.

4    You’ll increase Vvegetable and fruit consumption: For years, Americans have been falling short of the recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables. Diets rich in fruits and vegetables can help lower the risk of obesity and certain chronic diseases, as well as reduce your chances of having heart disease, diabetes and some cancers. If you choose to eat less meat, you’ll have more opportunities to increase your fruit and vegetable consumption and reap the health benefits.

5  You’ll reduce the risk of osteoporosis: Eating less meat may reduce your risk of developing osteoporosis by maintaining a healthy bone density. Meats have been shown to leach calcium from bones, which can become a serious problem for the elderly. Low bone density can make people more susceptible to bone breaks and fractures with age. Therefore, cutting back on meat consumption and maintaining a healthy calcium intake can help reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

6    You’ll lose weight: Eating less meat may be the ticket to losing those extra pounds and maintaining a healthy weight. High-protein diets may be the culprit of weight gain and the reason why people can’t shed the unwanted pounds. Of course, exercise and lifestyle play a major role in the weight loss process, but cutting down on your daily meat consumption may help you lose the weight faster.

7    You’ll get enough protein: Increasing your meat consumption to get enough protein in your diet is not necessary. In fact, most people get enough protein from their diets without needing to add more meat to the mix. Cutting back on your meat consumption will not make a big difference in your protein intake or your health. Try replacing the meat you would have been eating with another high-protein source like eggs, milk, tofu or cottage cheese.

8    You’ll lower your cholesterol: Eating less meat can have a significant effect on your cholesterol. The saturated fats in meat raise LDL (bad) cholesterol levels, which can increase your risk of cardiovascular disease, heart attack or angina. Reducing your meat consumption and replacing it with more fruits and vegetables can help lower your bad cholesterol levels and raise your good cholesterol levels.

9   You’ll reduce the risk of bowel cancer: Bowel cancer, also called colon cancer, is a deadly killer that takes thousands of lives every year. One important way to reduce your chances of developing bowel cancer is to eat less meat. Cutting back on meat, specifically red meat and processed meat, can significantly lower your chances of getting colon cancer because you’ll be lowering your fat intake.

Drinking Early Morning Urine Does not cure GONORRHEA

Gonorrhea has been termed to be the commonest Sexually Transmitted Disease worldwide, infecting millions of people. Statistically, its incidence may be higher because only about 1 in 10 infected men exhibits symptoms related to gonorrhea. Also, about 50% of women remain asymptomatic to this disease.

It is caused by a gram gram-aerobic diplococcus Neisseria gonorrhoeae that colonizes the urinary/reproductive tracts and may occasionally gain access into the blood stream to cause sepsis. It is said that the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases has been on the increase with about 19 million new infections occurring yearly. According to findings by a group of Nigerian health researchers, out of 252 high vaginal swabs obtained, Neisseria gonorrhoeae was isolated in 0.38%. This study also showed an increase in drug resistance to Neisseria gonorrhoeae from inadequate and improper treatment of this pathogen. Treating any infection properly is the key in reducing the emergence of new strains that are resistant to conventional antibiotics.

MODE OF TRANSMISSION

1. The commonest route of transmission is via unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected partner. This can be vaginal, anal or via oral sex. It is advocated that condoms are used correctly and consistently in all premarital/casual sexual relationship. This accounts for over 90% of all cases of gonorrhea infection ·

2. Transmission from mother to child. This occurs when the newborn passes through the birth canal of an infected mother. It is referred to as ‘Ophthalmia neonatorum’ characterized by an offensive purulent discharge from the eyes of a newborn baby.

CLINICAL FEATURES: HOW WILL I KNOW THAT I HAVE GONORRHEA?

1. The commonest symptom of gonorrhea infection is the presence of a foul-smelling urethral discharge of pus with pain during urination. This typically occurs 2 - 6 days after exposure ·

2. Irritation, inflammation and itching of the genitals

3, Painful testes. This occurs with ascending urinary tract infection · It is important to NOTE that most people infected with gonorrhea shows no symptom(s) of the disease.

With the advent of online pharmacies and self-medication, many people have inadequately treated themselves by using the wrong drug, improper dosage and poor compliance to the duration of treatment. In Nigeria and other developing countries with poor access to proper health care facilities, different treatments have been used for gonorrhea. Most of these treatments are bizarre with no scientific proven studies carried out for such treatment. Treating gonorrhea has to be done the right way to prevent complications that may arise from poor treatment.

I have heard of people using or advocating the use of early morning urine to treat gonorrhea and I wonder on the rationale of such treatment. ‘Are they not disseminating the disease’ was the question I asked myself when I came across a web page advocating such treatment. Drinking urine doesn’t treat gonorrhea but it may increase the chance of getting the bacteria into your gastrointestinal system and your blood. Other treatments commonly used are herbal concoctions made from roots, leaves and bark of trees. Although several claims have been made about the efficacy of these products, no scientific evidence is available to prove such claims. Herbal concoctions/ medicinal products may be prepared using unethical methods, substandard ingredients and in unhygienic conditions hence posing great danger to the health of its consumers.

But there are some Natural fruits and Nutriceuticals that can put a final cure to  GONORRHEA like

Guyabano also called Sowsop contains significant amounts of vitamin B1, B2 and C which curb gonorrhea. It also has antibacterial and diuretic properties which relieve the painful burning sensation during urination. Extract the juice of the fruit and drink one glass daily.

Ajwain

Ajwain has huge healing and curative powers which are greatly beneficial in the treatment of a wide range of diseases and ailments. It is particularly very effective in curing all kinds of uterus and genito-urinary disorders. It is rich in antibacterial and antifungal properties which make short work of all kinds of infection and effect quick healing.

It is rich in thymol which has excellent antiseptic and cleansing properties and which remove all the impurities from the blood and purify it.

Mangosteen for Gonorrhea

Mangosteen, also known as Garcinia Mangostana is a common herbal remedy for Gonorrhea. However, this Southeast Asian fruit is a rare find. With its white fleshy center, the fruit is known for its rich anti-bacterial properties. The recommended way to administer this is to extract the juice and consume it orally.

I can go on and on on fruits, exotic fruits, vegetables and see vegetables  that take care of all viral and bactaria infections but instead of doing to I will like to leverage on a unique Nutriceutical Intelligent suppliment called Trevo with 174 Ingredients which contains the fruits I have mentioned above and others of its kind.

Here are 10 possible signs you may have Kidney Disease:

Over 90 percent of people with signs of kidney disease are unaware of it.

March is National Kidney Month, and one of the best ways to observe this health awareness month is by getting tested if you're at risk for kidney disease. Major risk factors include high blood pressure, diabetes, a family history of kidney failure and being age 60 or older.

While the only way to know for sure if you have kidney disease is to get tested, there are a number of physical signs. Sometimes people attribute these physical symptoms of kidney disease to other conditions. This is because those with kidney disease tend not to experience symptoms until the very late stages, when the kidneys are failing or when there are large amounts of protein in the urine.

You're more tired, have less energy or are having trouble concentrating. A severe decrease in kidney function can lead to a buildup of toxins and impurities in the blood. This can cause you to feel tired, weak and can make it hard to concentrate. Another complication of kidney disease is anemia, which can also cause weakness and fatigue.
You're having trouble sleeping. When the kidneys aren't filtering properly, toxins stay in the blood rather than leaving the body through the urine. This can make it difficult to sleep. There is also a link between obesity and chronic kidney disease, and sleep apnea is more common in those with chronic kidney disease.

You have dry and itchy skin. Healthy kidneys do many important jobs. They remove wastes and extra fluid from your body, help make red blood cells, keep bones strong and work to maintain the right amount of minerals in your blood. Dry and itchy skin can be a sign of the mineral and bone disease that often accompanies advanced kidney disease, when the kidneys are no longer able to keep the right balance of minerals and nutrients in the blood.

You feel the need to urinate more often. If you feel the need to urinate more often, especially at night, this can be a sign of kidney disease. When the kidneys' filters are damaged, it can cause an increase in the urge to urinate. Frequent urination can also be a sign of a urinary infection or enlarged prostate in men.

You see blood in your urine. Healthy kidneys typically keep blood cells in the body when filtering wastes from the blood to create urine. However, when the kidneys have been damaged, these blood cells can start to "leak" out into the urine. In addition to signaling kidney disease, blood in the urine can be indicative of tumors, kidney stones or an infection.

Your urine is foamy. Excessive bubbles in the urine -- especially ones that require you to flush several times before they go away -- indicate protein in the urine. This foam may look like the foam you see when scrambling eggs, as the common protein found in urine, albumin, is the same protein as in eggs.
You're experiencing persistent puffiness around your eyes. Protein in the urine is an early sign that the kidneys' filters have been damaged, allowing protein to leak into the urine. This puffiness around your eyes can be due to the fact that your kidneys are leaking a large amount of protein in the urine, rather than keeping it in the body.

Your ankles and feet are swollen. Decreased kidney function can lead to sodium retention, causing swelling in your feet and ankles. Swelling in the lower extremities can also be a sign of heart disease, liver disease and chronic leg vein problems.

You have a poor appetite. This is a very general symptom, but a buildup of toxins resulting from reduced kidney function can be one of the causes.

Your muscles are cramping. Electrolyte imbalances and cramping can be caused by impaired kidney function. For example, low calcium levels and poorly controlled phosphorus may contribute to muscle cramping.

Lack of Knowlede is the root of all disease.

Glutathione: The Mother of All Antioxidants and Natural Healer

Glutathione: It's the most important molecule you need to stay healthy and prevent disease -- yet you've probably never heard of it. It's the secret to prevent aging, cancer, heart disease, dementia and more, and necessary to treat everything from autism to Alzheimer's disease. There are more than 89,000 medical articles about it -- but your doctor doesn't know about it

What is it? I'm talking about the mother of all antioxidants, the master detoxifier and maestro of the immune system: GLUTATHIONE (pronounced "gloota-thigh-own").

The good news is that your body produces its own glutathione. The bad news is that poor diet, pollution, toxins, medications, stress, trauma, aging, infections and radiation all deplete your glutathione.

This leaves you susceptible to unrestrained cell disintegration from oxidative stress, free radicals, infections and cancer. And your liver gets overloaded and damaged, making it unable to do its job of detoxification.

In treating chronically ill patients with Functional Medicine for more than 10 years, I have discovered that glutathione deficiency is found in nearly all very ill patients. These include people with chronic fatigue syndrome, heart disease, cancer, chronic infections, autoimmune disease, diabetes, autism, Aids Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, arthritis, asthma, kidney problems, liver disease and more.

What is Glutathione:

Glutathione is a very simple molecule that is produced naturally all the time in your body. It is a combination of three simple building blocks of protein or amino acids -- cysteine, glycine and glutamine.

Normally glutathione is recycled in the body -- except when the toxic load becomes too great. And that explains why we are in such trouble ...

In my practice, I test the genes involved in glutathione metabolism. These are the genes involved in producing enzymes that allow the body to create and recycle glutathione in the body. These genes have many names, such as GSTM1, GSTP1 and more.

These genes impaired in some people for a variety of important reasons. We humans evolved in a time before the 80,000 toxic industrial chemicals found in our environment today were introduced into our world, before electromagnetic radiation was everywhere and before we polluted our skies, lakes, rivers, oceans and teeth with mercury and lead.

That is why most people survived with the basic version of the genetic detoxification software encoded in our DNA, which is mediocre at ridding the body of toxins. At the time humans evolved we just didn't need more. Who knew we would be poisoning ourselves and eating a processed, nutrient-depleted diet thousands of years later?

Because most of us didn't require additional detoxification software, almost of half of the population now has a limited capacity to get rid of toxins. These people are missing GSTM1 function -- one of the most important genes needed in the process of creating and recycling glutathione in the body.

Nearly all very sick patients are missing this function. The one-third of our population that suffers from chronic disease is missing this essential gene.

However, problems occur when we are overwhelmed with too much oxidative stress or too many toxins. Then the glutathione becomes depleted and we can no longer protect ourselves against free radicals, infections, or cancer and we can't get rid of toxins. This leads to further sickness and soon we are in the downward spiral of chronic illness.

But that's not all. Glutathione is also critical in helping your immune system do its job of fighting infections and preventing cancer. That's why studies show that it can help in the treatment of AIDS.(i)

Glutathione is also the most critical and integral part of your detoxification system. All the toxins stick onto glutathione, which then carries them into the bile and the stool -- and out of your body.

Glutathione is a substance produced naturally by the liver. It is also found in fruits, vegetables, and meats.

People take glutathione by mouth for treating cataracts and glaucoma, preventing aging, treating or preventing alcoholism, asthma, cancer, heart disease (atherosclerosis and high cholesterol), hepatitis, liver disease, diseases that weaken the body’s defense system (including AIDS and chronic fatigue syndrome), memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, osteoarthritis, and Parkinson’s disease. Glutathione is also used for maintaining the body’s defense system (immune system) and fighting metal and drug poisoning.

Glutathione is breathed in (inhaled) for treating lung diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, and lung disease in people with HIV disease.

Healthcare providers give glutathione as a shot (by injection into the muscle) for preventing poisonous side effects of cancer treatment (chemotherapy) and for treating the inability to father a child (male infertility).

Healthcare providers also give glutathione intravenously (by injection into the vein, by IV) for preventing “tired blood” (anemia) in kidney patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment, preventing kidney problems after heart bypass surgery, treating Parkinson’s disease, improving blood flow and decreasing clotting in individuals with “hardening of the arteries” (atherosclerosis), treating diabetes, and preventing toxic side effects of chemotherapy.

How does it work?

Glutathione is involved in many processes in the body, including tissue building and repair, making chemicals and proteins needed in the body, and for the immune system.

Good News

The good news is that Trevo has a Large amount of  natural Glutathione gotten from sea vegetables and cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, kale, collards, cabbage, cauliflower, watercress, etc.)

Mark Yarnell, Famous Author Of ‘Your First Year In Network Marketing’, Passes Away

Mark Yarnell the popular author of  YOUR FIRST YEAR IN NETWORK MARKETING passed away last night. He was 65 years old.

About Mark Yarnell

Mark Yarnell is an accomplished author, orator, and international business leader with decades of applied network marketing experience. He has built an international distribution organization of more than 300,000 marketing representatives in twenty-one countries.

Mark has delivered presentations and speeches throughout North America, Europe and Asia and has authored and published several bestsellers, including Your First Year in Network Marketing and several additional books about network marketing and success principles.

As a respected advocate of the Network Marketing Industry, Mark was the first and only person from Networking to serve as Contributing Editor to Success Magazine. He and Dr. Charles King of Harvard University created the first certification course in Network Marketing taught at the University of Illinois, Chicago and in Seoul, Korea since 1993.

Mark has been honored and recognized internationally with numerous awards in the industry, including the American Dream Award, and was named the Greatest Networker in the World by Upline Magazine.

Mark has been indoctrinated into the Network Marketing Hall of Fame and has founded and supported a variety of charitable organizations. He founded both The Eagles, a literacy organization for penitentiary inmates and the School of Sobriety, the only free treatment program in Nevada for alcoholics and addicts. His charitable work earned him the Nevada Philanthropist of the Year Award from the Washington Times.

Mark and his wife Valerie reside in the beautiful mountains of British Columbia Canada. They have recently published two books – How to Become Filthy Stinking Rich Through Network Marketing and The Lotus Code: Timeless Wisdom for Accelerated Prosperity.

Mark continues his passion for building a networking organization, delivering keynote addresses, reading and writing on a daily basis, paragliding and fly fishing.

I will really miss him because his wisdom has really helped me in building my team of over 3,000 networkers all over Nigeria and some international and I will never forget this his short article below (lol)

"Give me MLM or give me death!"

Recently a financial planner asked me why in the world I choose to spend my most productive years in Network Marketing. My answer was swift and decisive: because Networking rewards productivity...leveraged productivity. I would be embarrassed to admit that I was in any profession that encourages security-based salaries. Companies can keep their salaries, pensions, health plans, and Fords. Give me an unlimited opportunity or give me death. I'd rather buy my own dream car than drive a free Taurus. I'm not interested in health insurance because I'm not planning on getting sick or injured and the three times I have, as an adult, I paid the doctors and hospitals afterward, not several years in advance. I never wanted to be a doctor because I could only help one person at a time. I never wanted to be a lawyer because there are only a few billable hours every day.

No thanks folks. I'm a network marketer and proud to admit it. In fact, I'd be embarrassed to be anything else. I'm in a pyramid where everyone starts at the top and fills in the bottom instead of beginning at the bottom and clawing toward some elusive top. I win when others win not when they lose because I was promoted ahead of them. I give money to charities but I prefer to found them. I don't have any structured hours but I'm on the phone fifty or more hours a week because I love interacting with winners. I could take more vacations but I've had my fill of poverty and behind every beautiful beach is a pathetic ghetto. I'm tired of watching beer-gutted vacationers beat down market vendors to the last Peso on shell jewelry and trinkets. Every day at home spent with people I love is heaven on earth.

So the next time some big "Biness Man" questions MLM...don't hesitate to express pride in what you do. Networkers are champions in the last bastion of true capitalism!

11 Health Benefits of Having Sex Regularly

Sex is fun and feels incredible — that alone is plenty reason to have more of it. But if you need additional incentive, it has an incredible array of benefits to our health and well-being.
Aside from giving you a youthful glow, sex is also a great way to stay flexible and burn calories.
It can also help you sleep better at night and wake up healthier in the morning. Studies also show that those who have an active sex live longer and may even have more successful careers.

According to the National Opinion Research Center, the average American couple reports having sex 66 times a year. Married adults under age 30 say they have sex an average of 109 times a year. The average number drops to 70 times per year for 40-somethings and 52 times a year for people in their 50s.

Below are 11 additional health benefits of regular sex:
  1. It boosts immunity: "Research suggests that those who have had sex recently have higher levels of immunoglobulin A, an antibody that can help ward off common cold and flu symptoms," says Astroglide's Resident Sexologist, Dr. Jess.

  2. You'll live longer: Improved longevity, balanced hormones and lower stress levels. "These benefits are associated with the good night's sleep that often follows a romp in the hay owing to the increase in oxytocin levels!" says Dr. Jess.

  3. Healthier heart: Couples who are in a happy relationship have a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease, higher survival rates after serious surgeries and greater longevity owing to healthier eating habits, stronger social networks and an increased likelihood of seeking medical care, says Dr. Jess.

  4. Pain relief: Sex can be used as a pain reliever especially during orgasm when levels of oxytocin get exponentially elevated, says John W. Beiter, Ph.D., CST, Licensed Psychologist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. So, stop using those headaches as an excuse not to play!

  5. Anti-aging: "Studies have shown that couples having more sex can look seven years younger!" says love and sex coach Kim Anami.

  6. Exercise: According to psychologist and sex therapist Dr. Estella Sneider, by having sex at least three times per week it helps burn calories and we get the benefit of using more than 500 muscles!

  7. It's great for your career: "Dr. Helen Fisher, an anthropologist and biologist, states that people who have sex regularly are more successful at work," says Sneider. According to her, sex helps trusting oneself and increases self–esteem.

  8. Beauty treatment: Regular sex increases estrogen production, which makes your hair shiny and your skin smooth. "The pheromones you release act as a natural perfume, so more people are attracted to you!" adds Anami.

  9. Stress relief: The oxytocin released at orgasm wipes out cortisol, which is the major stress hormone, says Anami.

    10. Lowers Your Blood Pressure:Research suggests a link between sex and lower blood pressure, says Joseph J. Pinzone, MD. He is CEO and medical director of Amai Wellness.
“There have been many studies,” he says. “One landmark study found that sexual intercourse specifically (not masturbation) lowered systolic blood pressure.” That's the first number on your blood pressure test.

11.  Lowers Heart Attack Risk: A good sex life is good for your heart. Besides being a great way to raise your heart rate, sex helps keep your estrogen and testosterone levels in balance.
“When either one of those is low you begin to get lots of problems, like osteoporosis and even heart disease,” Pinzone says.

Having sex more often may help. During one study, men who had sex at least twice a week were half as likely to die of heart disease as men who had sex rarely.

About Stomach Ulcer

These small holes in the stomach or intestinal lining can create some big problems if not treated promptly.

By some estimates, close to four million adults in the United States have an ulcer — this means that about one in 50 of your friends, family members, and co-workers are battling an ulcer right now.

In fact, peptic ulcers create a significant economic burden in the United States, costing close to $6 billion a year lost due to:

    Missed work
    Hospitalization
    Doctor visits

Ulcer: What Is It?

Ulcers are holes that form in the lining of the upper part of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. When they occur in the stomach, they are called gastric ulcers. If they form in the first part of your small intestine, the duodenum, they are referred to as duodenal ulcers.

“An ulcer is a wound in the lining of the stomach or duodenum, but really any part of the gastrointestinal tract can ulcerate,” explains Patrick I. Okolo, III, MD, MPH, chief of endoscopy at Johns Hopkins Hospital and assistant professor of gastroenterology and hepatology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. “It’s a chronic injury where the lining has been disrupted. However, when people refer to an ulcer they are usually referring to peptic ulcer disease.” The word peptic refers to digestion. A peptic ulcer is the umbrella term for all types of GI ulcers.

Technically an ulcer is at least 0.5 centimeters wide, but can be much larger. Duodenal ulcers mainly occur in people between 20 and 50 years old and gastric ulcers typically appear in people over age 40. Duodenal ulcers are about four times more common than gastric ulcers.

Ulcer: How It Forms

Your stomach is a very hostile environment because of the acids that help in digestion, acids that are as toxic as car battery acid. The lining of your stomach and duodenum usually is well-protected from these acids by a layer of mucus.

Peptic ulcer disease begins when a weakness in your stomach or intestinal lining allows acid to create an erosion or sore in the lining. It is the most common type of stomach disease, according to the American Gastroenterology Association.

“We know that ulcers occur because there has been a disruption in the balance of factors that injure the digestive tract and those factors that protect it from injury,” says Dr. Okolo.

Basically, the factors that injure your stomach lining become stronger or more numerous than those that protect it.

The cause of about two out of every three ulcers is the bacterium Helicobacter pylori. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin are another common ulcer cause; they damage the protective mucus layer of the GI tract.

Symptoms of stomach ulcer

The most common symptom of a stomach ulcer is a burning or gnawing pain that develops in your abdomen (tummy). The pain can also travel up to your neck, down to your navel (belly-button) or through to your back.

The pain associated with a stomach ulcer is caused by the ulcer itself and stomach acid that comes into contact with the ulcer and irritates it.

The pain can last from a few minutes to a few hours.

You may find pain starts soon after eating a meal. If the ulcer is in your small intestine (duodenal ulcer), pain may start two to three hours after eating so it may wake you up during the night.

Eating more food and taking antacids (indigestion medication) can often help relieve the pain of a duodenal ulcer, but not usually the pain of a stomach ulcer.

Less common symptoms of a stomach ulcer include:

    indigestion
    heartburn
    loss of appetite
    being sick

Some people also find they can no longer tolerate eating fatty foods.

At first you may only feel mild discomfort (technically referred to as “epigastric pain”) in the pit of your stomach, about halfway between your ribs and your navel.

Without treatment, your ulcer can continue to grow, become very painful, and may bleed. If not treated early, it may eat entirely through the lining of your stomach or intestine (this is called a perforated ulcer) and need surgery to repair. At its worst, a perforated ulcer may lead to significant bleeding and death.

If you have multiple recurrent ulcers, they can cause swelling and scarring as they heal, which may one day cause problems with your digestion. You may:

Lose your appetite and be unable to eat a normal amount
Start vomiting because of a complete blockage by scar tissue
    Shed pounds unintentionally
